about

Written on New Year's Day, 1st January 1984, whilst coming down from an LSD trip watching the snow falling outside the window of a friend's flat. Demoed for One Million Fuzztone Guitars at the time but never rehearsed, played live or recorded.

"Nicely done, breezy pop anthem to the Easy Life, big deception, and with bats in the belfry and chickens in the yard...I was reading about Kevin Rowland today. This song suddenly also reminded me of him." AQ

"Great Scot! It’s good. I particularly like the words. This song is held forth by it’s narrative. A happy Nick Cave tune perhaps with a twist….. Good Rob, Good. I don’t know much - but I know when something musically is good to my ears and mind………" AR

"Cool. Good sound. I'd have that chord drop after 2nd 'Falls for another' preceding it rather than after it for better pathos. Groovy." AG

lyrics

Crystal Chandelier

I drank myself into an early grave
At the crystal chandelier
But I'm alive and kicking now
Andlife's become so clear
I awoke from this strange dream
When you said roll on summer
Lying at the lido oh
This year is such a bummer

But it's your dream
And I know it's true
But I can't understand
Why someone that looks like you
Always falls for another
Falls for another

There are bats up in the belfry
There are chickens in the yard
If you love him why don't you
Just give him another chance

Like Alice through the looking glass
I wander through this life
With plans and dreams and lovers and things
Just looking for the easy life
